Passage to Panama
Passages are always rife with things to troubleshoot and tune, problems to solve, and tedious boat watches at all hours of the night. But what makes passages gratifying and fun are the little adventures that truly mesmerize when you're in the middle of the ocean. A frigate bird catching a lift for part of the trip can entertain you for an entire day if not more. A sighting of garbage and debris floating warrants a u-turn to go back and try to catch fish (often there are teams of fish hiding in these gold mine garbage puddles). Even a magical sunset or sunrise is much appreciated, especially if you're the one on watch at 5AM. Sailing offshore is truly something different, not everyone, but for some its life changing.
